Minarelli Inner Rotor Ignition Polini both Vertical and Horizontal Scooter Engines 171.0529
This Polini inner rotor ignition comes with a light coil, so you dont have to worry about losing your lights like other performance ignitions. it is really light compared to stock and will improve throttle response and acceleration as well as being able to handle higher rpms from 70cc kits.
COMPLETE POLINI IGNITION for MBK BOOSTER - with use of lights - Applicable to the following models: APRILIA: AMICO 50 - SR 50 mod.1993 MBK: BOOSTER - BOOSTER R-ROCKET - BOOSTER NEXT GENERATION - BOOSTER SPIRIT 50 - BOOSTER TRACK 50 YAMAHA: BWS NEXT GENERATION - BWS ZUMA - SLIDER - SPY ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE FOR MINARELLI SCOOTER MOTORS (VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL)
CHECK CONNECTIONS PRIOR TO ORDERING. YOU MUST HAVE A MINARELLI AIR COOLED ENGINE IN A MODEL LISTED ABOVE. Vertical or Horizontal compatibility.
Disassemble the ignition cover and remove the original ignition, including the coil, while keeping the original control unit connected to the scooter's wiring. Fit the stator support flange with the supplied screws (TBEI M6x20 n 2), leaving the original dust seal. Compare the position of the flange according to your type of scooter with photos 4 and 5. Insert an adjustment shim between the stator and the support flange and screw it with socket head screws M4 10 n ° 5. Screw the pick-up with the M5x18 screws n 2 TBEI (see exploded view). Lock everything with Loctite threadlocker. Fit the rotor making sure to insert the key in its seat; then close with the nut supplied taking into account the tightening torques of the bolts: 30Nm - 3,0 Kg / m. With a thickness gauge, check the distance between rotor and stator (see drawing 1). If the distance (1,8 ± 0,5) is out of tolerance it is necessary to adjust it; for this reason the rotor and stator must be reassembled and adjusted on the adjustment thickness, remove it if it is too close to the tolerance or insert another supplied if it is too far away. Even if the distance is correct, the rotor and stator must be reassembled to apply Loctite to the stator screws (M4x10). At this point connect the wiring, the control unit and the coil finding a good housing for the whole and ensure the masses, if possible, in the original position (by doing so you can be sure that they are in good contact).
For MBK BOOSTER:
in the kit there is a coil support bracket that can help you in housing the coil itself (photo 6). For air minarelli:
remove the cooling fan from the original flywheel and mount it on the Polini rotor.
HEADLIGHTS -
As from the original ignition, when you have connected the Polini control unit and the coil, there will be 2 connectors to be connected. Proceed as shown in photo 7, bearing in mind that the white / blue wire will remain disconnected. We therefore recommend that you isolate it before fixing all the wiring. WARNING! If the electric starter does not produce any spark, it is advisable to check if the pick-up is too far from the engine, measuring the tolerance with a thickness gauge and possibly approaching it as shown in drawing 1.
ADVANCE ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the advance, act on the stator support flange. It has been suitably slotted so that it can rotate on itself when loosened by the fixing screws. The spark point of the ignition is marked on the rotor and pick-up. Then mount the comparator on the spark plug and by turning the rotor counterclockwise bring the piston to the Top Dead Center (TDC) and reset the comparator. Rotate the crankshaft (always anticlockwise) bringing the dial gauge to the right advance: STROBE COMPARATOR Minarelli 50 cc 1,7 mm from TDC 19 ± 2 at 4500 rpm Minarelli 70 cc (with modification) 4,5 mm from TDC 32 ± 2 at 4500 rpm Make the mark of the pick-up coincide with the rotor and close the stator support flange (photo 3). If you have a stroboscopy gun it is advisable to check the advance according to the table proceeding as follows: with a felt-tip pen, mark the TDC with the comparator, both on the rotor and on the stator and turn on the motor and stabilize it at 4500 g / i, checking the advance angle on the display.
