Digital overspeed governor with magnet double check and automatic reactivation - Digital calculation and control of speed and rpm.

. Function:
The DZB has as its heart a powerful microprocessor, which permanently calculates and evaluates the currently applied speed and rpm. The speed determines the DZB via the supplied wheel sensor together with a small self-adhesive magnet for the rim. The speed is calculated directly via the pickup cable of the CDI ignition at each piston revolution.
. The DZB can be operated in KMH, RPM or combination mode.

KMH mode:
In the KMH mode one stores a speed upper limit to the DZB. If one reaches this limit, the DZB throttles the scooter down by reducing the speed. Via a variably adjustable pre-stage, the speed is gradually reduced shortly before reaching the maximum speed, in order to achieve a clean transition. If one is below the set maximum speed, the speed is not regulated. Compared to regular rev limiters, this has a positive effect on acceleration and speed when driving uphill. To operate the DZB in KMH mode, the supplied wheel sensor and the wheel magnet must be installed on the front or rear wheel.

. RPM mode:
In the speed mode, the wheel sensor is not needed. Here, the DZB throttles the scooter only about the adjustable maximum speed. If the maximum speed is reached, the DZB regulates the machine. If the speed is below the set limit, the DZB does not intervene. This means that there is no loss of power in the lower speed range. To make the transition to throttling somewhat smoother, pre-stages of different sizes can also be set here. In these pre-stages, the DZB throttles every 3rd ignition pulse shortly before the maximum speed is reached.

. Combination mode:
In combination mode, the DZB works simultaneously with the set speed and KMH limit. This is particularly useful when you want to set a fairly high revving scooter to a low top speed. So that the scooter does not rotate suspiciously high when starting, you can reduce the maximum speed even before the final speed is reached.

Programming and control:
Programming the maximum speed/maximum speed is as simple as can be. A simple press of the internal program button is all that is needed to store the current applied speed or rpm as the upper limit, depending on the operating mode.
To deactivate the throttle, simply pull the brake briefly and simultaneously drive the supplied magnet over the magnetic sensor. To reactivate the throttle, you just have to briefly turn the ignition off and on again.

Dimensions:
The housing is tiny. The dimensions are 45x45x18mm + mounting eyelet. The length of the connection cable is 45-50cm, the sensor cable for deactivation is about 100cm long. The dimensions of the wheel sensor are only about 28x19mm, the cable length is about 50cm.
. Caution: The original cable length of the wheel sensor is quite short at 50cm, especially if the sensor is to be attached to the front wheel or near the axle hub!
You also get 4 cable quick connectors, with which the installation is child's play and goes super fast! No more rumschneiden and soldering on the wiring harness!

Installation:
For the installation you need to connect the 4 cables of the DZB. You need +12V (switched via the ignition lock), brake signal, pickup signal and ground/minus. For KMH mode, you also need to attach the wheel sensor and wheel magnet to the front or rear wheel of the scooter. The sensor detects the wheel revolutions, similar to a bicycle speedometer. The distance between sensor and magnet on the wheel should be about 5-15mm. The wheel sensor usually attaches well between the wheel and variator housing, frame or fork. The magnet has a 3M adhesive layer and can be easily attached to the rim or inside the brake disc. Although the magnet is self-adhesive, we recommend to fix the magnet with a 2K glue permanet when you have found the optimal position.
. Inside the DZB are two control LEDs, with which you can check the correct installation and operation.

Digital vs. analog rev limiter
Why is this digital overspeed governor now superior to all other conventional analog governors?
In analog speed limiters are usually 4 capacitors installed, which are combined via a rotary encoder or dip switch and thus determine the speed limit. With 4 capacitors, this results in only a meager 15 steps to which an analog DZB can be set. The control is accordingly coarse and it often happens that one cannot set the desired speed limit correctly. Level 12, for example, throttles too much, while level 11 is already too weak. A common problem...
With this digital speed limiter can not happen. The DZB can be set completely steplessly to the desired speed and keeps this with a calculation accuracy of 99.9% to the point!
In addition, an analog rev limiter shifts the ignition timing very slightly, even if the speed limit is not yet reached. This leads to a small loss of power in the lower speed range.
The digital rev limiter changes the ignition behavior only when the set limit is reached. In the lower speed range, the engine operates without loss of power.

Your advantages at a glance:
  • Digital control of speed and rpm, individually or combined
  • .
  • Speed and speed continuously programmable
  • .
  • Adjustable pre-stages for smooth transition
  • .
  • No speed reduction below maximum speed in KMH mode. Great for acceleration and uphill driving!
  • No reduction in low speed power in RPM mode
  • .
  • Automatic activation of the limitation
  • .
  • Double check: simultaneous pulling of the brake (or similar) necessary. Very safe!
  • Cable quick connector - no separation and soldering of cables necessary!
  • Best workmanship: all components are carefully soldered on a circuit board and firmly glued in the housing. This increases the durability enormously

. Scope of delivery:
  • KMH speed limiter
  • .
  • Magnet for deactivation
  • 4 quick connectors
  • Wheel sensor + self-adhesive wheel magnet
  • Detailed step-by-step installation instructions with the most popular manufacturers' wire assignments

Compatibility:
The DZB works with almost all 2T carbureted machines (for example, with the common Minarelli replicas (1E40QMB) such as CPI and Keeway). With 4-strokes, direct injection machines, Morini engines and machines with double pickup (eg Aprilia SR50 with brown and white cable on the CDI) the DZB unfortunately does not work!
