Steering dampers are used to avoid dangerous handlebar impact when the front wheel is unloaded or lifted. They also reduce undesirable vibrations in the steering, such as oscillation in a critical speed range.

This speed does not necessarily have to be high, the tendency to swing is dependent on many different factors and can occur several times over a wide speed range.

Gas pressure-supported steering dampers from BGM effectively prevent this dangerous kick-back as well as the tendency to swing.

The steering dampers are inexpensive instruments for more safety on the road and in racing. In principle, the dampers work in the same way as shock absorbers, the damping is the same in tension and compression.

The housing of the steering dampers is milled from one block of Ergal 7075.

The compensation chamber of the steering damper "sits" on the piston rod, so the BGM steering damper requires only little space and works perfectly.

The damping of the BGM steering damper is adjustable with 10 clicks, becoming linearly tighter. Therefore the steering dampers are also ideal for road traffic, because there a too hard basic adjustment often does more harm than good.
