Special adapter that allows the BGM Pro SC/F16 Competition to be shortened by 30mm without losing suspension travel.

Shortened PK fork
This is useful for a shortened PK fork (e.g. to use it in a Vespa V50, PV, ET3). By shortening the fork, the swingarm angle would be too steep with a normal length damper and the trail would be too short. The shortened damper optimizes this again. The response of the damper due to the flatter swingarm is improved and the driving stability due to the larger overtravel is increased.

Shortened PX fork
To lower the front of a Vespa PX the fork can be shortened. To restore the original swingarm angle the adapter offered here is used. The length of the shock absorber is reduced by 30mm. Depending on the shortening of the fork the swingarm angle and thus the caster can be varied.

Shortened PX/Cosa fork
A shortened PX/Cosa fork can be ridden with either a shortened PX shock (210mm) or a PK shock (195mm). With 210mm the swingarm of the fork stands, depending on the shortening of the fork, again as intended from the factory. With 195mm you also get a flatter swingarm angle. Ultralow suspensions use the shortened PK shock with 165mm. If necessary, use the upper spacer of different lengths on the rear shock absorber to further optimize the handling.

PK fork in racing
A standard PK fork (in the PK frame) is also often used in racing with a shortened damper. Here the trail is shortened, the weight distribution is shifted more to the front wheel and the steering head angle is steeper, the handling improves enormously.

This is especially on narrow courses of great advantage.

The

disadvantage is the more unstable handling at high speed

.

MOUNTING
The adapter replaces the standard adjustment wheel. To remove it, remove the spring. To do this, set the shock to the lowest spring preload, compress the spring and remove the upper spring plate. Then clamp the piston rod in protective jaws (aluminium/wood) in a vice. Now the adjusting wheel can be removed completely. If necessary, heat the wheel carefully (not higher than 150°C because of the NBR O-ring inside) to soften the screw glue. Afterwards the new adapter can be screwed in, please secure it again with appropriate screw adhesive. Important note: The screw adhesive requires an activator spray, otherwise it will not cure on the passive surfaces. Also, no screw glue may get into the adjustment mechanism, otherwise it will stick together and no longer function.
The damping is then adjusted using a grub screw.

NOTE
Fits only on the BGM Pro SC/F16 Competition shock absorbers (with reservoir/damper adjustment).
BGM Pro Sport shocks (without reservoir/damper adjustment) can be lowered with BGM774LCP.
