Alternator and voltage regulator
The BGM PRO assembly uses a modern electrical system with voltage regulator. The alternator has modified coil wiring and produces a high voltage even at low rpm. As a result, a stable, bright light is already present at idle. At high revs, the voltage regulator automatically adjusts to a smooth, stable voltage of 12-13 volts. This also offers the possibility of charging a battery and/or supporting a USB charging socket for mobile phone, GPS, etc.
Ignition
The BGM Pro`s ignition uses the proven CDI technology that Piaggio has been using since the 1980s. The ignition pulse is triggered without contact by a so-called "pick-up" signal. The high ignition current, even at low engine speeds, ensures perfect starting in all conditions. Contactless ignition triggering is stable right up to the five-digit speed range.

With a weight of 1600 grams, the small-frame models are perfectly suited to the lively characteristics of small engines.
The large-frame engines, at 2300 grams, offer a wonderful blend of plenty of racing culture and very good acceleration.
They are finely balanced, offer fantastic concentricity as well as great ignition precision and very good magnetisation.
Thanks to the smaller circumference and optimised wing surfaces, the engine grips the throttle very well and has better acceleration and a bit more power.
Conversion
Vespa PX models from 1984 onwards have an alternator with a single cable to the central power supply (blue cable). This kit allows you to replace a decrepit original ignition and make driving behaviour more dynamic thanks to a lighter flywheel. It is also ideal for rebuilding a complete engine. It can be perfectly combined with the BGM voltage regulator (BGM6690) and can also be used with the original G /G regulator of the Lusso models. This set is also perfect for converting 2011 PX models. These use their own ignition type which tends to cause misfiring in the higher rev range (above 7000 rpm) (rev limiter).
